PBA approves Yancy De Ocampo-Yousef Taha trade between San Mig Coffee and GlobalPort

The PBA approved a four-player trade between the GlobalPort Batang Pier and the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers, Tuesday night.

GlobalPort sent center Yousef Taha and forward Ronnie Matias to the Mixers for center Yancy De Ocampo and forward Val Acuna.

Neither move, however, is projected to move the needle for both teams. San Mig Coffee acquires a defensive specialist in Matias, who had stints with Rain or Shine and Air21 earlier this season. The 6'7" Taha has also made his rounds around the league, having already been traded five times since being drafted in 2012. But the Mixers are a deep team, and it remains to be seen if either player can get consistent minutes.

Batang Pier gets an aging veteran in De Ocampo, whose size should lend some interior protection. Acuna, despite his reputation as a shooter in his amateur and semi-pro days, had few opportunities to contribute as a regular part of San Mig Coffee's rotation. The two join a GlobalPort squad still struggling to settle on a rotation and identity since Pido Jarencio took over as head coach at the start of the Commissioner's Cup.  - AMD, GMA News
