The GlobalPort Batang Pier will pin its hopes on Stanley Pringle after selecting the Filipino-American guard first overall in the PBA rookie draft on Sunday.

Pringle, a former star at Penn State University in the US NCAA Division I, has been a highly-touted prospect for several years prior to joining the PBA draft.

Local fans had a chance to see him in action when he suited up for the Indonesia Warriors in the ASEAN Basketball League. His Filipino passport allowed him to play in the league as an ASEAN import.

Pringle joins a team that finished in last place in the past two PBA tournaments under coach Pido Jarencio. He joins a GlobalPort side that already features backcourt stars Alex Cabagnot and Terrence Romeo. — JST, GMA News
