PBA: NLEX brings in Rob Jones, Syrian cager Michel Madanly for Governors' Cup

NLEX tapped the services of Rob Jones and Syrian star Michael Madanly to reinforce their roster in the import-laden Governors' Cup, head coach Boyet Fernandez confirmed via text message to GMA News Online.

The 26-year-old Jones is fresh from a stint in Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rico and is expected to be a front court force for the Road Warriors alongside big men Asi Taulava and Enrico Villanueva.

He went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft after a finishing his college career in St. Mary's, but he went on to play overseas in Greece, Dominican Republic, and Poland.

Madanly, meanwhile, recently played with Purefoods' Commissioners' Cup import Denzel Bowles for Jilin Northeast Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.

The high-scoring guard, who led the 2007 FIBA Asia in output with 33.1 points per game, will beef up NLEX' back court along with Jonas Villanueva, Mac Cardona, and Rudy Lingganay.

With Madanly in their line up, the Road Warriors is one of the few teams which availed an Asian import as part of the league's innovation efforts.

Sister team Talk 'N Text and fan favorite Barangay Ginebra have also tapped Asian reinforcements, while several others are still on the look out for prospects. - RAF, GMA News
