After Lando delay, PBA opens 41st season


Bannered by stunning ladies and neon lights, the PBA opened its 41st season on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
 
The ceremony was originally scheduled last Sunday, but it was cancelled due to the effects of Typhoon Lando over the weekend.

Four volleyball stars were the center of attention among the team muses, led by Ateneo's Alyssa Valdez with Talk 'N Text and La Salle's Mika Reyes with Barako Bull Energy.
 
Rachel Anne Daquis also returned after last year's stint as GlobalPort muse, this time sharing the limelight with Petron Blaze Alexa Micek as they walked with Philippine Cup defending champion San Miguel Beer.
 
Last year's All-Filipino runner-up Alaska tapped young athletes Samantha, Tara, and Franchezka Bourlain, while Star Hotshots stole the spotlight with the Miss Global candidates as their muses.
 
Singers Karylle and Jasmine Fitzgerald represented GlobalPort and Mahindra, respectively, while Rain or Shine and NLEX chose beauty queens Julee Ann Marie Bourgoin and Ann Colis.
 
Blackwater and Meralco strutted with actresses Max Collins and Eula Caballero, while Barangay Ginebra's muse Arci Munoz got the approval of the fans as she showed her swag.
 
With the PBA starting its fifth decade, the oldest league in Asia released its new theme song "Liga ng mga Bida" by popular rapper Abra and Project Pinas vocalist Aya.
 
Asia's Got Talent grand champion El Gamma Penumbra also recorded a video performance, which was shown on-screen after the colorful opening number featuring lasers and hover boards.
 
PBA chairman Robert Non also announced that the proceeds for the opening day will be donated to the victims of Typhoon Lando. —JST, GMA News
