The GlobalPort Batang Pier defeated the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 78-70, to earn their first win in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

Stanley Pringle led his squad with 29 points and nine rebounds, while Kelly Nabong had a double-doodle with 12 points and 13 boards.

Bradwyn Guinto had key baskets late, en route to a 10-point outing.

The Batang Pier were up just two heading into the final 12 minutes of the game, 58-56, which the Elasto Painters were able to trim to just one point after a Dexter Maiquez make at the 7:16 mark of the fourth, 62-61.

Stanley Pringle and Julian Sargent, however, uncorked an 8-0 run, stretching the lead to nine entering the final five minutes.

Enough baskets from Pringle and Bradwyn Guinto quelled any form of a Rain or Shine comeback.

Gabe Norwood led Rain or Shine with 15 markers, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 10.

Mark Borboran was the only other player in double figures with 13, as James Yap struggled with a 2 of 11 clip, while Raymond Almazan settled for just two points. — BAP, GMA News
