UAAP: Soaring Falcons stay unbeaten, slay Growling Tigers, 79-71

Adamson University's Soaring Falcons stand unbeaten in UAAP Season 81 after slaying UST's Growling Tigers, 79-71, on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"I think this is one game that we were able to prove ourselves, that we play as a team, we hold down the opponent, I think we can survive any game," AdU head coach Franz Pumaren said.

Jerick Ahanmisi led the San Marcelino-based squad by scoring 20 points. "It was a good test for us to show how well we play as a team down the stretch, even though we have players that weren't in 100% [condition]," said Ahanmisi.

Sean Manganti played with a sprain, while Papi Sarr was recovering from sickness.

"It was a good game for us. We struggled many times but we just kept our composure and followed the system," Jonathan Espeleta, who listed 12 markers, added.

"After beating the defending champs (Ateneo), I don't think there's an easy game for us. Everybody will test us, everybody will see how we handle pressure. I guess we just have to prepare," Pumaren added.

With the win, Adamson now holds a 3-0 record, while the UST Growling Tigers have one win and two losses.

The Falcons will next face the UP Fighting Maroons on Wednesday, while UST will battle Ateneo next Saturday. —LBG, GMA News
