'Great part' of Pacquiao earnings from Mayweather fight will go to charity — Arum

Both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are in for a financial windfall from their May 2 clash at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather is bound to get 60 percent of the purse, while Pacquiao will get 40 percent from what is considered to be the richest fight in the sport's history.

"Let's assume after everything, I believe there’ll be $300 million in the pot. So, 60 percent of $300 million is $180 million and 40 percent of $300 million is $120 million. Buys a lot, a lotta stuff," Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said in an interview on ESPN.

But while the two fighters will be getting a lot of dough, Arum believes how they will spend the money will be vastly different.

"Floyd loves cars, will probably buy enough cars that satisfy every motor vehicle dealer in Las Vegas," said Arum, who once served as Mayweather's promoter before they had a falling out.

"And I know a great part of the money that Manny earns will go to support charities in the Philippines. Cause like I said, the social welfare system in the Philippines is called Manny Pacquiao."

Pacquiao, who also serves as representative of Sarangani, is known for his heart for the poor. After his fight with Brandon Rios two years ago, he visited Yolanda-stricken areas in Eastern Visayas to provide aid and inspiration to Yolanda survivors. —JST, GMA News
