Respectful Mayweather calls Pacquiao 'one of the best of his era'

For years, Floyd Mayweather played down Manny Pacquiao's accomplishments inside the ring.

But when they met face to face in a press conference to discuss their May 2 fight in Las Vegas, the unbeaten American fighter surprisingly took on a much more respectful tone when talking about the Filipino ring icon.

Calling Pacquiao "one of the best of his era," Mayweather said that the fight is "about the best fighting the best."

It was in stark contrast to past behavior from Mayweather, who had taken to social media to constantly mock Pacquiao for past losses. Pacquiao even once sued Mayweather for insinuating that he was using performance enhancing substances.

But there was hardly any fireworks when the two faced off in the press conference, which was preceded by a unique red carpet press conference.

Mayweather said he's training harder than ever to keep his unbeaten record spotless.

"I've never wanted to win a fight this bad in my life," said Mayweather. —JST, GMA News
