Pacquiao-Mayweather fight to air live over GMA radio stations nationwide

GMA SVP for Radio Mike Enriquez addresses questions from reporters on the Pacquiao-Mayweather broadcast. Mark Cristino

Live and in real-time.

That's how fans can follow Manny Pacquiao's fight against Floyd Mayweather on May 3 through all GMA radio stations nationwide.

This was announced in a news conference for the fight's broadcast on Thursday.

"We will be airing the fight live and in real-time... in all our radio stations AM and FM," said Mike Enriquez, GMA's Senior Vice President for Radio.

"This is not going to be a delayed broadcast or what and this will be aired not only in Mega Manila but in all our radio station AM and FM from as far as south of Tuguegarao to as far south of Zamboanga. So even the people in places like Maguindanao and Basilan, they will have a chance to listen to live real-time blow-by-blow fight," he added.

Previous Pacquiao fights have also aired live over GMA radio stations in the past, with Enriquez noting that the live radio broadcast has provided a surge in the television airing of those bouts.

Unlike in the past, however, GMA-7 has waived its rights for an exclusive broadcast of the fight, allowing rival networks ABS-CBN and TV5 to air the mega-bout as well.

"It's a personal request from Manny Pacquiao (to include ABS-CBN and TV5 in the broadcast)," said GMA-7 Executive Vice President Felipe S. Yalong.
