Roach's gameplan for Pacquiao: Break down Mayweather early, knock him out late

Freddie Roach can already foresee how his top pupil Manny Pacquiao will fare against Floyd Mayweather on May 2 (May 3 PHL time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Despite his fighter being pegged as the underdog, Roach is very confident that Pacquiao will triumph over the brash American come fight night.

"I think Manny will win by knockout," Roach told ontheropesboxing.com.

"I don’t have a round but the thing is, we have to break him down first and I think in the later rounds, I believe Manny will knock him out."

Public will demand rematch

It is common for big fights to have a rematch clause in the contract but Mayweather-Pacquiao was signed for a one-time deal only.

Nevertheless, the Hall of Fame trainer feels that the fight will be so huge and exciting that the public will demand a rematch after the historic bout.

"There’s no rematch clause but this fight’s so big that I think if it goes like I think it will and they both start early and they both go for the knockout early because Floyd’s legs are nearly gone," said Roach.

"I know he’s gonna start quick and we’re gonna start quick also. I think the fans will demand a rematch, and I would love a rematch because I like making money, so it’s pretty good." - JST, GMA News
