John Riel Casimero overcomes Thai foe's dirty tactics for sensational KO win

John Riel Casimero became the Philippines newest world boxing champion on Wednesday night after knocking out Thai boxer Amnat Ruenroeng for the IBF flyweight title in China.

Ruenrong tried to use his usual dirty tricks just like in their first fight, but Casimero acted swiftly to finish him off early on.

In the fourth round, the Thai dragged the Filipino down with him when he tripped on his own shoe laces. Ruenroeng also kept hooking his arm around Casimero's head during the rematch.

Casimero sent his foe to the canvass with a solid punch to the face in the two minute mark in the fourth round, but Ruenroeng soldiered on to continue the fight.

The Pinoy fighter, however, took care of business with a body shot, which landed solidly in Ruenroeng's side. The Thai crumpled on the ropes and then lie weak on the ring. —Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
