Donaire ready to defend title alongside Pacquiao in Las Vegas

The "Filipino Flash" Nonito Donaire Jr. assures his fans and supporters that he is prepared to retain his title in a fight alongside fellow Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao.

In a "News To Go" report, GMA News' Mav Gonzales quoted Donaire as saying he is prepared for the Nov. 5 fight at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the Filipino boxer will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior featherwight title.

He is going against the undefeated Mexican-American Jessie Magdaleno, WBO North American Boxing Organization (NABO) youth super bantamweight champion.

Donaire's bout is the co-main event of Pacquiao's fight against American WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas.

"Masayang masaya ako kasi lahat ng mga Filipino, they'll see two fighters that they look up to in one card," Donaire said.

The Filipino flash is confident he can quickly knock Magdaleno down in the fight.

For his part, the Mexican-American boxer said he is determined to give himself the victory as a present for his birthday three days after the event.

"He (Donaire) carries a big left hook and that's one shot we have to worry about," Magdaleno said. "We've done that well in training and we're gonna show that on that night."

Aside from Pacquiao and Donaire's fights, two more bouts are expected in the event. — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/LBG, GMA News
