KL Dragons to join Fr Martin Summer Cup as guest team


Forty two teams, including ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) team Kuala Lumpur Dragons, will be competing in the 17th Fr. Martin Summer Cup, which opens on Saturday at the San Beda College St. Placid Gym in Manila. The Dragons, one of the ABL's founding members, will only field their local players and will play minus their Filipino imports. Letran College, the NCAA's most winningest team, will open up its title bid against STI College at 12 noon in the tournament organized by multi-titled coaches Ato Badolato and Aric Del Rosario, who will also be the league's commissioner. The Letran Squires will open up the tournament when it faces the National University Bullpups at 9 a.m. followed by the 10:30 a.m. contest between Emilio Aguinaldo College-Immaculate Conception Academy (EAC-ICA) and STI College in the juniors division. EAC-Cavite will face Colegio de Sta. Monica of Las Piñas at 1:30 p.m., while Our Lady of Fatima University will go up against NU at 3 p.m. in the other seniors games. Leading the 22 seniors teams vying for the crown are UAAP three-peat champions Ateneo and reigning NCAA title holder San Beda.
