UAAP women's volleyball finals: Ateneo aims for win No. 2, La Salle tries to bounce back

Games Saturday, Finals

10 a.m. UST  vs  FEU  (M)
2 p.m. Ateneo  vs.  La Salle (W)
Ateneo hopes to make it two in a row against La Salle, while the defending UAAP women's volleyball champions try to bounce back and keep their title hopes alive in Game Two Saturday at The Arena in San Juan City. Lady Eagles coach Roger Gorayeb vowed to beat the Lady Archers twice and avenge the Katipinan-based squad's two losses against La Salle during the elimination round. La Salle coach Ramil De Jesus, however, said they won't allow that to happen this time. "We're going to make the adjustments to correct the mistakes we made in Game One. I'm going to make sure that our setter is also emotionally prepared." De Jesus said setter Mika Esperanza got rattled in the game that led to their loss. "She ran out of options in our plays and our blockin was disorganized that's why Ateneo pulled away."  Ateneo stunned La Salle in the finals opener, 23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17, handing the Lady Archers their first defeat in Season 74. The Taft-based spikers enjoy a thrice-to-beat advantage after sweeping the elimination round. In the men's division, defending titlist Univesity of Santo Tomas opens its five-peat bid when they face challenger Far Eastern U at the start of their own best-of-three finals series at 10 a.m. — JVP, GMA News
