UAAP: DLSU vs ADMU preview and live-scoring

The biggest rivalry in local collegiate sports will add another chapter to its long history, when the De La Salle University Green Archers and the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles clash for the first time in UAAP Season 75, Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. DLSU (2-1) suffered a bitter loss to the Far Eastern University Tamaraws last Sunday, when last season's runners-up held them to just two points in the final five minutes of the game, resulting in a 48-46 loss for the Archers. Playing without starting point guard LA Revilla and sniper Luigi Dela Paz, La Salle got caught in a low-scoring affair that saw none of their players score in double-digits. They also failed to convert on any of their three-pointers, and were unable to capitalize on their ability to get to the foul line, finishing 16-of-26 from the stripe. Rookie sensation Jeron Teng also suffered his first off-night, as FEU's defense held him to 2-of-12 shooting and just six points. Meanwhile, Ateneo (2-1) bounced back from a second-half collapse at the hands of the UST Growling Tigers, by thrashing hosts NU Bulldogs from start to finish, in an 89-65 drubbing. Ateneo's 'Big Three' of Nico Salva, Kiefer Ravena and Greg Slaughter combined for 52 of their side's 89 markers, while their team defense held the Bulldogs to a 2-of-21 night from three-point territory and surrendered only 10 turnover points. The 7'0" Slaughter adjusted after a foul-stricken game versus UST's Karim Abdul to post a mighty 14 point, 13 rebound, five assist, three block outing. Beyond the rivalry implications though, Ateneo is no doubt hoping they can flash the consistency needed to power them on their quest for a fifth straight UAAP title.
