UAAP: Adamson star Nuyles out for the season

Star wingman Alex Nuyles of the Adamson University Soaring Falcons men's basketball team is calling it quits for the season after re-injuring his shoulder. The guard/forward has elected to undergo surgery soon and does not expect to play for the remainder of UAAP Season 75.

Nuyles announced the news over his personal Twitter account on Tuesday at around 1PM. "Will be undergoing a shoulder operation soon. Hoping everything goes well," he tweeted.
Already hampered by a lingering ankle injury entering the season, Nuyles dislocated his right shoulder in action against the NU Bulldogs on Sunday. He exited late in the first quarter, and as a precaution, Nuyles was not fielded back into action. Team sources claim the the injury was the fifth time the same shoulder was dislocated.

National University eventually prevailed, 77-62.

Though he was expected to lead the Falcons this season, Nuyles has clearly been limited by his injuries, playing only 23.8 minutes per outing and averaging 6.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists on 35.7 percent shooting four games.
"It will be very hard for me to leave the team in the middle of the season," said Nuyles on Twitter, who already in his final playing year. "But I have to do what I have to do." After a medical checkup yesterday, Nuyles is scheduled for an MRI soon and was ordered to sit out for the next two weeks. However, according to Falcons head coach Leo Austria, who spoke to GMA News Online on the telephone, it is unlikely that Nuyles will suit up again for the team, confirming the swingman's tweets. "Syempre importanteng malaman yung result ng MRI, pero wala namang pumipilit sa kanyang mag-laro," said Austria. "At this point, pinag-iisipan na niya ang kanyang [professional] career and whether ma-aagravate lang yung injury sa UAAP. Nabigay naman niya ang lahat."  – HS/AMD GMA News
