Shakey's V-League to air on GMA News TV

For the first time, Shakey's V-League will air on GMA News TV. Fans of the much-followed volleyball league can now watch the games' telecast starting April 15, 1pm after noon-time newscast Balitanghali. "We're very grateful to the management of GMA7 for coming into a partnership with us," said V-League president Ricky Palou. "In the past we have been in partnership with [GMA International]. Now we're happy they're showing it on a local television network." GMA Network Inc. officially inked the deal with league officials on Wednesday. "It's one sport where the Philippines can excel," GMA President & COO Gilberto Duavit briefly told media after the contract signing. Now on its 10th year, Shakey's V-League is cooking up an "All-Star Weekend" where star players that have graced the league's court through the years will get to play against current players. Ten teams are currently fighting for the V-League title, namely Ateneo, University of Santo Tomas, San Sebastian, Letran, La Salle-Dasmarinas, Perpetual Help, National University, Adamson, Arellano, and University of San Carlos-Cebu. - AMD, GMA News
