Messi top scores for March, but Phil Younghusband only 2 spots behind


The International Football Federation of History and Statistics recognized Lionel Messi as the world's top goal scorer for the month of March, after scoring a total of nine goals.   Second to Messi is FC Shalke's Klaas Jan Huntelaar with eight, while the Philippines' Phil Younghusband came in at third, for scoring six goals at the recently concluded AFC Challenge Cup.   Younghusband in Asia's "mythical 11"   The younger Younghusband was also cited by Goal.com as part of the Asian Best XI for March. Joining the Filipino striker are Qatar's Baba Malik as goalkeeper, Saudi Arabia's Salem Al Dosari as right-back, Australia's Alex Wilkinson and Iran's Mohammad Nosrati as center-backs, and Iranian Hassan Ashjari at left-back.   South Korea was also represented as Koo Ka-Cheol was picked for being the best at right midfield, while Nam Tae-Hee was chosen as attacking midfielder.   Rounding out the list are North Korea's Park Nam-Choi and Japan's Shinji Kagawa in center midfield with Thailand's Suchao Nuchnum at left midfield. - AMD, GMA News
