Michael Phelps hails ONE Championship's move to stream fights on mobile app

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps commended ONE Championship's move to stream all of its events on a mobile app for free in a conference held on Thursday at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.

Phelps, who is regarded as the greatest Olympian who ever lived after winning a total of 23 Olympic gold medals, says Asia's largest mixed martial arts promotion is headed towards the right direction with the help of its latest innovation.

"We are now living in the digital age. The sporting world is now going into that direction as well." said Phelps. "In order to grow, we have to adapt to it. We have to innovate and be available on all these digital platforms."

The ONE app was launched this month and is available to download on both Android and iOS platforms. The app allows fans to watch ONE Championship events and its library of digital content for free.

Phelps also backed ONE chairman Chatri Sityodtong's vision that digital media happens to be the future of global sports.

"Every single technological innovation in delivery of content advances sports to its potential," Phelps quipped. "It benefits the athletes and the organizers. More opportunities are upon the sporting world. This is all good news for all of us." — BAP, GMA News
