Team Lakay bags four awards in Global Martial Arts Awards


SINGAPORE—Baguio City's Team Lakay is taking home four awards from the recently concluded 2018 Global Martial Arts Awards at JW Marriott Hotel in South Beach, Singapore.

The awards night, which was presented by 18 leading broadcasters across Asia, saw former ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang take home the 'Martial Arts Hero' of  the year award.

ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio won the 'Submission of the Year' award for pulling the "Passion Lock" submission against Pongsiri Mitsatit this past July.

Mark Sangiao and his gym Team Lakay, meanwhile, both copped the 'Coach of the Year' and 'Gym of the Year' awards.

  • Ring Girl of the Year: Lee Ji Na
  • Event of the Year: ONE: Kingdom of Heroes
  • Walkout of the Year: Andy Nguyen
  • Referee of the Year: Olivier Coste
  • Breakthrough Athlete of the Year: Stamp Fairtex
