Rebel spokesman stops giving live radio interviews

July 8, 2006 7:59pm
Claiming the military has intensified its electronic surveillance, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) spokesman Gregorio “Ka Roger" Rosal has stopped giving live radio interviews.

Rosal said the military surveillance became obvious after military officials came out with statements “sowing intrigues". Military reports said there is a power struggle in the CPP and Rosal has been removed as spokesman.

“We will still be giving live media interviews, but shall have to be very careful, making sure that the [military]’s electronic snoops and attack dogs do not gain from it," Rosal said in a statement posted on the CPP’s website (philippinerevolution.org).

Rosal said the CPP will issue written statements and mail it to the media and post it on the CPP website.

“We are definitely not on the run. We have not been grounded, nor are we being eased out of our functions, as the government’s military spinners are claiming. We have just become much more careful and sparing in using the cell phone because of its security downside," Rosal said. - GMANews.TV
