3 robbers killed in predawn shootout in Mandaluyong

MANILA, Philippines - Three suspected robbers were killed and a policeman was slightly injured in a predawn shootout in Mandaluyong City Wednesday.

Mandaluyong City police chief Sr. Supt. Carlos de Sagun said the incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. along Coronado Street in Mandaluyong City.

"Ang aking tauhan na-chance nila na may holdapan sa lugar at nagpalitan ng putok (My men chanced upon them and there was an exchange of fire)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

Those killed were initially identified as Rodel Zaragoza and Alex Galicia. De Sagun said Zaragoza had an outstanding arrest warrant.

He said one of the policemen, Sr. Insp. Hoover Pascual, was slightly injured and his car was hit with bullets. - GMANEws.TV
