Hunt for rebel soldiers’ ‘financier’ starts

July 9, 2006 5:10pm
Authorities have started looking for the alleged financier of the six Magdalo soldiers who were arrested during a predawn raid in Quezon City on Friday.

Armed Forces spokesman Jose Angel Honrado said Sunday the result of the tactical interrogation of the six alleged rebel soldiers will form as basis for follow-up operations.

May nagpopondo riyan. This is part of our tactical interrogation. May follow-up operations diyan," Honrado said in an interview over GMA-7 radio DZBB.

Honrado said investigators will start their probe at No. 34 Adler St., Filinvest 2 Subdivision in Quezon City, where the soldiers were arrested.

Honrado noted that the house was rented for P35,000 a month.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said a priest who used to live in the house has close ties with Novaliches Bishop Antonio Tobias, a critic of President Arroyo.

Quoting unnamed police and military officials, DZXL reported that Catholic priest Andreas Sudarsono was a “close friend" of Tobias who is a friend of Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez.

Iñiguez filed an impeachment complaint against President Arroyo.

The radio report also said the house used to be a “safe house" for Sandra Cam, the so-called jueteng witness who linked several personalities identified with the Arroyo administration to the numbers racket. - GMANews.TV
