August 10, 2008 2:34pm

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Rodolfo Biazon flew to Cagayan de Oro Sunday to personally monitor Monday’s election in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Likewise, a network of lawyers, law students, paralegals, and other trained volunteers has been positioned in ARMM provinces to ensure the orderly conduct of the first ever automated election in the country’s history.

"Gusto ko makita 'yung posibleng development ng sitwasyon para alam ng kongreso kung ano ang possibleng response dito (I want to see the possible development of the situation so that the congress will know what would be the possible response)," Biazon told dzBB radio in an interview.

Biazon also noted that he wanted to see which among the two computerized systems that will be used for the ARMM polls would be most applicable to facilitate the 2010 elections.

Meanwhile, volunteers from the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE), one of Comelec’s accredited citizens’ arms, have already been deployed in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.

The volunteers will work hand-in-hand with other accredited citizens' arm organizations to protect the sanctity of the ballot

The team will have its headquarters in the cities of Cotabato, Marawi and Zamboanga. - Aie Balagtas See and Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
