Celebrity Duets 2: Melanie Marquez first to fall
For Melanie Marquez, beauty and singing donât mix. On Saturday, Melanie was the first celebrity contestant to be booted out of Celebrity Duet 2 of GMA-7 after garnering the lowest number of text votes from viewers. Before her exit, Marquez was languishing in bottom four with beauty queen Carlene Aguilar, actor-brother Joey Marquez and designer JC Buendia, GMA-7's Showbiz Central reported Sunday. "Gusto ko lang mag[bigay ng] apology kasi nawala ako. Eh kasi nagulat din ako," Melanie said. Showing grace under pressure, Melanie said: "Well, at least maganda 'yung experience ko. And ever since naman sport ako eh. Actually, nararamdaman ko na 'yun before pa, na ako talaga [ang masisibak]." Marquezâs departure left her co-contenders reeling. "Nakakalungkot," said health and lifestyle guru Cory Quirino. âKasi meron kaming pact king mga girls that we will outlast the men." "Actually, I'm very very sad. Sabi ko nga eh it could have been me instead of her. Kahit ako binoto ko siya eh," said actor-brother Joey Marquez. Despite the turn of events, the show went on. Seven celebrity contenders remain in the competition. They are: Quirino, Buendia, Aguilar, Joey Marquez, football player Phil Younghusband, chef JL Cang, and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando. Celebrity Duets 2 is aired every Saturday and hosted by singer-composer Ogie Alcasid and Asiaâs songbird Regine Velasquez. This season's panel of judges is composed of Floy Quintos, Danny Tan and social butterfly and Celebrity Duets' first grand winner, Tessa Prieto-Valdes. - GMANews.TV
