BORACAY, Philippines - A 27-year-old contractor was arrested by the Boracay Police Tuesday night for allegedly stealing P300,000 in cash and P100,000 worth of jewelry from a resort owner. A tape from a closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera showed him leaving the owner's room with a black bag containing the cash and valuables.
Police Officer 1 Conrado of the Boracay Police Office identified the suspect as Theo Divine Faigao of Roxas City, Capiz.
At around noon of Tuesday, Faigao was contracted by resort owner Doralyn Sunico, 42, of Sheena's Place to fix the roof of one of the rooms of the resort. She then left to go to a bank.
When she came back, at about 4 p.m., she saw that the door of her room had been forced open. Inside she discovered that her P300,000 in cash (some of it in US dollars) was missing. So were jewelry and a Sony video camera with a total value of about P100,000.
Sunico went over to a nearby resort which has a CCTV. While viewing the CCTV tapes, she saw Faigao leaving the room bringing along with him the black bag allegedly containing the missing items. She called the police to arrest Faigao.
The contractor denied her accusation, cops were able to recover from his possession the P300,000 cash and the video camera. Missing, however, was the jewelry. - GMANews.TV
