Int'l agency flies home 2nd batch of 450 Pinoys
A group of 450 Filipinos repatriated from war-torn Lebanon is due to arrive in Manila on Friday afternoon, the second group to be flown in by the International Organization of Migration (IOM).
GMA's dzBB quoted Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesman Gilbert Asuque as saying the group will arrive at 4 p.m. Friday on board a 747 plane.
A third batch of 450 Filipinos will also be flown in by the IOM on Sunday.
The first IOM-sponsored flight arrived on Tuesday carrying 447 workers.
Established in 1951, the IOM is an intergovernmental agency that groups 118 member states.
There are an estimated 34,000 Filipinos in Lebanon, the third largest number of foreign nationals in that country. Nearly 2,200 have so far been repatriated.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Wednesday ordered the evacuation of all Filipinos from the war-torn country as Israel continued its attacks for the third straight week. -GMANews.TV
