20 held in NBI raid on cybersex den in Las Piñas
MANILA, Philippines - Twenty people were arrested in a raid conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on a cybersex den in Las Piñas City before dawn Tuesday.
Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that the NBI team raided the den in Alabang Zapote Road in Talon I village in Las Piñas City, which was located near a village hall.
Initial investigation showed many of the arrested were homosexuals posing as women who pose nude before a web camera for paying customers.
The NBI team seized computer units during the raid.
But the NBI agents in the raid said they were puzzled why village officials were not aware of the activities of the den.
On Monday, police busted an online pornography ring operating in Southern Luzon following a series of raids in Laguna province.
Radio dzRH reported that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group raided the safehouse of the group, which "fleeces" foreigners looking for "sex-oriented" online chats.
The report said the CIDG simultaneously raided the group's safehouses in San Vicente village in Biñan and Calamba City in Laguna.
At least 70 people were reportedly brought in for questioning. Police are also preparing charges against the owners of the ring, initially identified as Korean national Kim Soon Tai and Filipino Flor Angelie Rabaja.
Initial investigation showed the gang would pay its "employees" P300 to pose for the web cameras, but charge foreign customers $1 for every chat session.
The clients would pay $1 for every nude pose, not knowing they were merely viewing pre-recorded video clips.
The report said the police teams seized 50 computer sets. - GMANews.TV
