March 6, 2006 4:53pm
World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao on Monday did not show up at the first preliminary investigation of the case filed against him by his former girlfriend before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Legal counsel Jose Crisostomo Jr represented Manny and told investigating prosecutor Ma. Gracia Casaclang his client is out of the country.

Crisostomo said Pacquiao was not required to appear at the preliminary investigation in which he would only be furnished with a copy of the complaint.

The complainant, Joanna Bacosa, with her legal counsel Victor Rodriguez, was present and affirmed the allegations in her complaint.

Bacosa charged Manny with violation of Republic Act 9262 (Violence Against Women and Their Children). -GMANews.TV
