Martin "Mart" Mendoza Ilagan is an engineer with a passion for music.
Pinoy talent has made it abroad yet again with Martin Mendoza Ilagan's entry to the first Youth Olympic Games (YOG) songwriting contest.

The YOG, which was approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 2007, is conceptualized as an international sports event to be held every four years in staggered summer and winter events complementing the current Olympic Games.

Singapore will be the first country to host the Youth Olympics Games from August 14 to 26. Some 5,000 athletes and officials from the 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with estimated 1200 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 500,000 spectators will participate in the inaugural event.

The participating athletes should between between the ages of 14 and 18. To start off the YOG in a grand fashion, there's also a songwriting tilt. Ilagan's song "One Heart One Body One Soul" sung by Catherine Loria has made it to the Grand Finals of Sing! Singapore 2010.

Ilagan is a Singapore-based engineer, but music is his passion. He has written songs for artists like Philippine Idol winner Mau Marcelo, the first Filipino enka singer in Japan Yolanda Tasico.

In his blog, Ilagan expressed that he is honored to have made it to the Grand Finals. "Win or lose, no matter how the race will end, the important thing is the smile that we will be bringing through this song," he wrote.

Although Loria performed the song in the semi-final round, Mau Marcelo did the vocals for the demo which can be found on the Sing! Singapore 2010 website.

Listen to the song and cast your vote until March 5, 2010 at the official site of Sing! Singapore 2010.

Ilagan is also the manager of several musicians including Loria, who, in 2008, competed in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood. She bagged the Junior Vocalist Of The World and the Junior Grand Champion Performer Of the World awards. - FVI, GMANews.TV
