Veteran campaigner Antonio Lining succumbed to pressure and lost to local bet Yu Long Zhang, 11-7, in the finals of the China 9 Ball Open tournament Sunday at the Minya Hotel in Shanghai, China. In the women’s singles finals, Si Ming Chen edged Allison Fisher of Great Britain, 9-7, to complete the Chinese domination of this tournament. By winning the championship, Yu took home the top prize of $40,000. Lining settled for the runner-up prize of $15,000, but boosted his rankings in the World Pool-Billiard Association. Currently ranked seventh in the world, Lining is expected to move a few rungs higher. Another Filipino player expected to improve his rating is last year’s World Ten Ball runner-up Lee Van Corteza, who made it all the way to the semis of the China Open. - RCJ, GMANews.TV
