Snap election needed to solve RP’s problems – Angara
After several months of silence, Senator Edgardo Angara on Saturday finally commented on the issues surrounding the present political situation in the country, saying it has become dangerous, GMA-7’s DZBB radio reported.
Angara said the problem within the military is critical as he referred to statements earlier made by former president Fidel Ramos, that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo only enjoys the support of generals.
Ramos also said that most enlisted men and junior offices want Arroyo out.
In a weekly forum held at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City, Angara said the only solution left in the country is for Arroyo to call for a snap election.
“But to do this, we need a critical mass of people to support a joint resolution that would amend the constitution that will call for a snap election," Angara said.
He said all it needs are the signatures of five senators and 20 congressmen.-GMANews.TV
