Promotion exam for govt engineers set on Oct. 1

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers who would like to seek a promotion will take the Civil Service Commission (CSC)-DPWH Promotional Examination on October 1.

The exam aims to promote professionalism in the department, DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said in a news release.

According to the DPWH, the exams will cover those whose positions are:

  • Engineer III
  • Engineer IV
  • Engineer V
  • District and Assistant District Engineers
  • Project Managers I-IV
  • Director III (Assistant Regional Director and Assistant Bureau Director)
  • Director IV (Regional Director and Bureau Director)

    The examination covers the following subject areas:
  • analytical ability
  • specialized technical ability, which includes planning (10%), design (20%), procurement (10%), construction (25%), quality assurance (20%), and maintenance (15%), and
  • managerial ability.

    The DPWH said the October 1 exams will be different from previous promotional exams including the one conducted on November 5, 1994.

    Those who will fail the October 1 exam may take it again next year.

    However, those who fail a second time may only reapply after five years from the date of the last examination.

    Those who fail for a third time will be automatically disqualified. - VVP, GMA News
