It’s easy to think that water will never run out.  After all, 70% of the world is covered by water.  What many might not know, however, is that only 3% of the world’s water is considered fresh, and only 1% of this number is considered potable.  With urban growth and increasing water wastage and contamination, experts say it may not be long before we find ourselves facing a water crisis.  The year in which this is predicted to happen is 2025. What if clean water were to run out? Richard Gutierrez plays out predicted 2025 scenario in ORAS NA. A French scientist once said that the next war will be fought over water.  And if there is any indication that this might be true, it is a scenario caught by ORAS NA cameras in one barangay in Navotas.  With no clean water source, residents rely on water rations that arrive every few days.  And because water is such a vital resource, residents fight over which one of them should be first in line. In Bohol, residents are looking for a way to augment their water supply.  But it will take five days of non-stop labor to finally tap water from the ground. Oras Na cameras capture a barangay’s five-day struggle for freshwater in Tubigon, Bohol But while many have no access to a clean water supply, those in Metro Manila waste at least 50 million liters of water every day in households alone.  Learn more about the predicted water crisis and other environmental deadlines in GMA’s documentary special ORAS NA, hosted by Richard Gutierrez. Don’t miss this important television event, airing November 20 on SNBO.
