A motorcade honoring Miss World 2011 runner-up Filipino beauty queen Gwendoline Ruais started making its way from Quezon City to Makati City Friday.
Ruais waved to supporters from a vehicle in the convoy, which started at the GMA Network area along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue shortly after 10 a.m.
Many people waved to Ruais as her convoy passed by, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. The dzBB report said the convoy moved fairly quickly.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the motorcade would head towards Ayala Avenue then to Buendia in Makati City.
It is expected to head to Macapagal Avenue towards the Mall of Asia area in Pasay City, the MMDA said on its Twitter account.
Ruais was commended in both houses of Congress after being crowned Miss World First Princess 2011 in the 2011 pageant in London.
She tied the record for the highest finish for the Philippines in the Miss World pageant.
Evangeline Pascual was also first runner-up in 1973. The Philippines has yet to win the title. — RSJ, GMA News
