The spouses of envoys of Association of Southeast Asian Nations member nations in Saudi Arabia donated part of the proceeds of their bazaar this year to typhoon victims in the Philippines.   The ASEAN Women's Circle (AWC) in Riyadh held its annual AWC Bazaar during the ASEAN Festival 2011 at the Royal Thai Embassy Residence last October 13.   "This year, the AWC decided to donate certain amounts to various charities and disaster-stricken countries.  A part of the proceeds were donated to Japan for tsunami victims, to Thailand for the victims of the ongoing flood there, and to the Philippines for typhoon victims," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.   The DFA said the Embassy remitted the AWC contribution of US$765.56 to the National Disaster Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) last November 16.   Last year, the AWC Bazaar proceeds were all donated to Indonesia.   AWC includes spouses and ladies from ASEAN Embassies in Riyadh.   The AWC Bazaar is an annual event, held in parallel with the ASEAN Festival in Riyadh.   Eight ASEAN member-states have embassies in Riyadh; the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. - VVP, GMA News
