Manila, Philippines –  The ADEC Group, a leading customized business process outsourcing (BPO) services provider, recently backed the campaign of the local government of Puerto Princesa to include the Underground River as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.  Aside from committing 5,000 votes coming from employees and their families, the ADEC Group also encouraged the IT-BPO industry, other firms, and partners to support this initiative.

The Puerto Princesa Underground River, which the Swiss-based New7Wonders Foundation announced as a provisional winner last week, was promoted in a video created by FirstCarbon Solutions, an ADEC Group subsidiary. The video, which encouraged Filipinos and tourists to vote for the Underground River via SMS, was uploaded to different social networking sites and shared with the members of the Business Process Association of Philippines (BPAP).

“The ADEC Group is a strong supporter of the environment, and that value is at the core of the services we deliver through FirstCarbon Solutions,” said James Donovan, Chief Executive Officer of the ADEC Group. “As an environmentally responsible company, we were enthusiastic to do our part along with many other organizations and individuals to encourage support for the Puerto Princesa Underground River as an astoundingly beautiful natural wonder.” In addition to supporting the Underground River’s bid to be one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, the ADEC Group also plans to assist the environmental and sustainability projects of Puerto Princesa City.

The Puerto Princesa Underground River was one of 28 finalists in the survey. The other six destinations named provisionally to the New 7 Wonders are the Amazon Rainforest, Vietnam’s Halong Bay, Argentina’s Iguazu Falls, South Korea’s Jeju Island, Indonesia’s Komodo, and South Africa’s Table Mountain. Final results will be announced early next year, following an extended consultation process that began in December 2007. Press release from ADEC Group
