Palace: Dec 26, Jan 2 not holidays
December 26 and January 2, the Mondays immediately following Christmas and New Year's Days, are not holidays, Malacañang reminded the public.
The two days are not in the list of holidays for 2011 and those who report for work on those days are not entitled to extra pay, radio dzBB reported Friday.
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the presidential proclamation that enumerated the holidays for 2011 did not include the two dates.
Instead, the proclamation listed December 25, Christmas Day; and December 30, Rizal Day, as holidays.
December 31, Saturday, is a special non-working day as it is the last day of the year. January 1, a Sunday, is a regular holiday. — LBG, GMA News
