December 14, 2011 10:20am
Four suspected car thieves were allegedly killed in an encounter with the police in Antipolo City early on Wednesday.

According to the report of GMA News’ Oscar Oida, three of the suspects died on the spot in the incident in Blue Mountain Subdivision, Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City.

Meanwhile, the fourth member of the group was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after.

C/Insp. Randy Amaro of the Antipolo police said the suspects were sought by police and the Highway Patrol Group in the dragnet operation after they allegedly took a van at Ortigas Ave. Extension on Tuesday.

Amaro added that they had to chase the group in the subdivision for a few more minutes before they could shoot them.

The police recovered two pistols and two sub-machine guns from the scene, as well as the stolen van.

Authorities have yet to identify the suspects but they think that a big carjacking group is behind them.

“Armado ho sila ng iba’t ibang kalibre ng baril so hindi sila kasama du’n sa mga pipitsuging carjackers lang at ito’y hindi basta bastang kaso,” Amaro said. - Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/VVP, GMA News
