Communist Party raising funds for 'Sendong' victims
As it marks its 43rd anniversary on Monday, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) ordered its armed wing, the New People's Army (NPA), to seek "donations and contributions" for the victims of the floods and landslides brought about by tropical storm "Sendong" (international name: Washi) in Mindanao.
“The CPP calls on all Party committees and branches, all units of the New People’s Army (NPA) and revolutionary mass organizations to use the activities to mark the CPP anniversary to seek donations and contributions and channel these to the relief and rehabilitation efforts being carried out by the local revolutionary forces and other legitimate people’s organizations,” it said in a statement posted on its website.
The CPP said "revolutionary forces" under the National Democratic Front in Mindanao (NDF-Mindanao) have already started raising funds and relief goods for the victims of the disaster.

Mass struggles
Meanwhike, the CPP said the NDF is also urging the victims to make those responsible for the natural disaster to "answer to the people."
“While exerting efforts at relief and rehabilitation, the revolutionary forces should also help mobilize the victims of the calamity and the people in general to undertake mass struggles to make those responsible for the natural disaster and the ensuing massive loss of lives to answer to the people,” it said.
The CPP also expressed support for a 13-day ceasefire declared by the NPA's command in Northcentral Mindanao, which suffered the worst in the disaster.
The ceasefire declaration will cover Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities — two of the hardest hit areas — and the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte. - VVP, GMA News
