1 dead, 2 hurt as violence mars protest inside Dipolog jail
An inmate was killed while two others were wounded Wednesday afternoon when a protest among detainees in the Dipolog City Jail ended in violence.
Danilo Adanza was rushed to Zanorte Medical Center where he died due to the stab wounds he suffered, a police report said.
Prior to the stabbing incident, the inmates were conducting a noise barrage inside Building 2 of the detention facility when, at around 12:30 p.m., they took some of their fellow detainees hostage.
The reportedly demanded to talk to local media and Zamboanga del Norte Governor Rolando Yebes.
Superintendent Deogracias Tapayan, the head at the detention facility, was still negotiating with the inmates as of posting time, the police report said. The issue and demands of the inmates remain unclear. - KBK, GMA News
