Chinese associations in Guam offered a helping hand to victims of tropical storm “Sendong” (international name: Washi), raising some $6,500 for them.   The United Chinese Association of Guam and the Chinese Ladies’ Association of Guam turned over $6,500 to the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG) on Jan. 6.   In a news release, the Philippine Consulate General in Agana said Consul Edgar Tomas Auxilian witnessed the turnover ceremony at the United Chinese School in Upper Tumon, Guam.   He thanked the two organizations for their generous help, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.    Donations continued to pour in for victims of “Sendong,” which brought devastating floods to parts of Mindanao and Visayas in mid-December.   Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities were among the worst-hit areas.   “Sendong” left more than 1,200 people dead and more than P1 billion in damage to property. - VVP, GMA News
