Motorists received a new burden on Friday the 13th as oil companies raised the prices of their products anew effective 6 a.m.
Petron, Total and Shell raised prices of premium, unleaded, regular and diesel fuel products—the second price hike in one week, radio dzBB reported.
Starting 6 a.m., Petron and Total raised prices of premium and unleaded fuel by 80 centavos per liter, regular gas by 25 centavos per liter, and diesel by 50 centavos per liter.
Petron also raised prices of its kerosene products by 40 centavos per liter, although Total did not impose any price adjustment on kerosene.
A separate report by dzBB's Sam Nielsen said Shell also raised its prices effective 6 a.m.
Shell's price hikes included 80 centavos per liter for unleaded, 30 centavos per liter for regular gas, and 50 centavos per liter for diesel; and 40 centavos per liter for kerosene.
Earlier this week, Energy Undersecretary Jose Layug Jr. said the Department of Energy had asked oil companies to "stagger" their price adjustments for this week due to the large price adjustment.
Layug had voiced concerns about fuel prices continuing to go up due to tension in the Middle East, which supplies most of the Philippines' oil needs. –KG, GMA News
