12 Sarangani students to undergo training in top companies in Japan
Twelve students from Sarangani province have been chosen to undergo paid professional training in some of the top industrial companies in Japan. In a news release, the Sarangani Information Office said all of them are scholars at the Philippine-Nippon Technical College (PNTC), a Japanese-affiliated school based in the Philippines that provides study-now-pay-later technical courses and free Japanese language lessons. PNTC teamed up with the provincial government through the Strengthening Technological Advancement for Reforms (STAR) Project in choosing the interns, who underwent skills training in Padada, Davao del Sur and Calamba, Laguna. The scholars will undergo further training in the host country under the Japan International Training Cooperation Organization (JITCO) Program. They will be received by JITCO and given cultural and values orientation before they go to their respective companies, which chose them through their country representatives. JITCO will receive the interns and give them cultural and values orientation before they are deployed to their respective companies. The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) assured that the scholars will be “considered trainees and not as employees or workers.” One of the chosen interns, 19-year-old Tomas Delator, will be flying to Japan with five others on Monday. He will be working at Hitachi Kasado, a bullet-train repair and assembly plant in Japan. “This is a big help. This will hopefully improve our life,” said Delator, who hails from Malungon town. Another scholar, Wilbert Sara, said: “I am encouraging my fellow youth to help themselves. Do not just dream for yourself; strive harder to help your parents.” Sara, a management accounting graduate, is scheduled to go to Japan in February. According to the Sarangani Information Office, around 1, 8000 PNTC graduates are currently training in Japan. - RJMD, GMA News
