Malaysian authorities took a 24-year-old student into custody after the student allegedly threatened to bomb the helicopter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak —in a Facebook post.

A report on Malaysia's The Star Sunday evening did not name the 24-year-old, who it described as a university undergraduate.

"Police are investigating the case under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. He was earlier picked up at his campus in Nibong Tebal," it quoted George Town police assistant commissioner Gan Kong Meng said.

The report said the student was brought in to the district police headquarters on Patani Road for questioning at around 1:30 p.m.

According to The Star report, the last status message on the student's Facebook account had read Najib was heading for the campus.

"(L)et's bomb his helicopter," the report quoted the Facebook status as saying.

Police said the case is still "pending further investigation." — TJD, GMA News
