Two suspected robbers were shot dead in an encounter with police in Manila's Tondo district before dawn Friday.

 

Manila Police District Station 2 head Superintendent Jomar Modequillo said the suspects tried to shoot it out with his men, radio dzBB reported early Friday.

 

Both men were not immediately identified. One was described as wearing a blue shirt and denim pants, while the other was wearing black shorts and a yellow shirt.

 

Sketchy initial information showed MPD operatives were conducting a follow-up operation when they encountered the suspects.

 

The two suspects had allegedly held up a female passenger who arrived in Manila from the province aboard a passenger ship. The woman sought police assistance. –KG, GMA News
