Fil-Aussie a top professional handball athlete in Europe
A 25-year-old Filipino-Australian, Bevan Calvert, has been making waves as a professional handball player in Europe, a report of The Filipino Australian said. The report said Calvert's mother Violi is a Filipino. Calvert, a member of the Australian Men’s Handball Team, was named as a Global Filipino youth in the field of sports in July 2008. The report said Calvert has played in four world championships and several other international tournaments.
He is ranked 5th in his division in the German handball Bundesliga league. He is also the fourth top goalscorer in his team TSV Altenholz.
Aside from being a professional handball player, Calvert is also undergoing apprenticeship to become a licensed fitness trainer and salesman. - VVP, GMA News
