Prosecution moves to summon SEC records on Corona wife’s firm
The House prosecution team on Tuesday asked the Senate impeachment court to summon corporate records from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pertaining to a company owned by the wife of impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona.
The prosecution wants the Senate to subpoena the SEC’s director of Company Registration and Monitoring Department to bring original and certified true copies of the articles of incorporation of Basa-Guidote Enterpises Inc., owned by Mrs. Cristina Corona, the prosecution said in a statement.
It also wants the SEC to present the company’s general information sheet and audited financial statements from 2000 to 2010.
The move came after the prosecution found out through Corona’s statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) that the chief magistrate took out a P11-million cash advance from the company in 2003.
The chief justice declared in his SALN that he was paying the cash advance until 2009.
The prosecution team also sought to subpoena the personnel officer of the National Statistics Office (NSO) to bring copies of birth certificates of Corona’s children, as well as the marriage contract between daughter Carla and her husband, Constantino Castillo III. — Andreo Calonzo/VS, GMA News
