New post awaits retired Coast Guard chief Ramon Liwag
President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday afternoon led the installation of new Philippine Coast Guard commandant Admiral Edmund Tan at PCG headquarters in Port Area, Manila.
In his speech, Aquino lauded outgoing PCG chief Admiral Ramon Liwag, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56. The President said a new post awaits Liwag.
Liwag served as head of the Coast Guard for nine months.
Bukas ka na mag-report,” the President said.
He, however, did not say what post it would be.
The President reminded the newly installed Coast Guard chief to stay true to the oath he made upon assuming command.
“Kay Admiral Tan: huwag kang magpapahila sa tukso ng panlalamang,” he said, telling Tan that he was appointed to an important post because the President trusts that he can serve the Filipino people with all honesty and dedication.
