The Philippine Embassy in Israel feted an 11-year-old Filipina prodigy for her second-place finish at the Beit Sefer Le Musica, a prestigious singing contest there, on December 31 last year.   In a news release, the Philippine embassy said it welcomed Kathleen Louise Eligado and her parents, Arnold and Malou, following her victory.   "This is the first time that a Filipino has won a prestigious award in Israel's the Beit Sefer Le Musica competition. Kathleen was the only foreigner in the contest but she stood out among the contestants," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. Kathleen, a sixth grader at the Alef Dalet Gordon School, won a $2,500 musical scholarship and an exclusive contract with Tedy T.V.   She sung "I Am Beautiful" and "On my Own" in the contest, and won the second highest award. "Kathleen is an inspiration to the Filipino Community in Israel. The Embassy is proud of this young achiever. It is hoped that many more will follow in winning honors for Filipinos in Israel," the DFA said.   The DFA said Kathleen's mentor is Mati Caspi, a prominent musician and well-respected singer, songwriter and conductor. - RJMD/VVP, GMA News
